The holiday season is upon us! If you haven’t already started deep cleaning in preparation for guests (or just because it’s a change in the seasons) here is a tip for getting your baseboards and door trim clean and ready for a season of entertaining!
If your baseboards are really dusty, you may need a brush or vacuum. If so, either brush or vacuum off the worst of the dust/pet hair/etc. before touching them with any water.
Once they are free of the worst of the dust, you can take some soapy water and a rag to wash them. Be sure to rinse the rag out regularly so that you aren’t smearing dirt as you go along. You want to get them nice and clean.
Once they are dry, wipe them down one last time with a dryer sheet to help repel future dust.
If you do this at least once or twice per year, it’s not nearly as big of a job to complete as it would be if you let it go for years and years.
If you are getting ready to sell your home, your baseboards are one area that needs to be deep cleaned prior to any photos or showings of your home, as dusty baseboards can make a buyer feel that the home is not clean or well maintained.
